NEW POSSIBILITIES OF RADIOLOGIC DIAGNOSTICS OF BREAST CANCER
Abstract
Early breast cancer diagnosis is contemporary and actual problem due to the increase of breast cancer incidence and low detection rate of the disease.
Multispiral computed tomography of mammary gland with intravenous contrast agent injection allows resolving diagnostic tasks aris- ing in patients with high density mammary gland tissue, considerable edema, fibrosis, postoperative conditions. It also helps to define localization, extent of disease and tumor growth patterns.
High gradient of contrasting in the malignant tissue during venous phase makes it possible to reveal small tumor nodules (less than 1 cm). Implementation of thin slices (less than 1 mm) during multispiral CT of mammary glands allows detecting of micro-calcifications. Possibilities to evaluate changes in retro mammary space, regional lymph nodes and to analyze the osseous and pulmonary tissues con- dition during the same investigation allows correct staging of disease and assessing the degree of disease extension.

CLINICAL AND IMMUNOLOGIC IMPORTANCE OF MDR1/PGP 170 EXPRESSION IN PATIENTS WITH BREAST CANCER
Abstract
Clinical, morphologic and immunohistochemical data of 51 patients with stage T2N1-3M0 breast cancer treated in the N.N. Blokhin Russian Cancer Research Center of Russian Academy of Medical Sciences in 2002 was analyzed. Expression of Pgp 170 was found in 19 patients. Relationship between immunophenotype of stage T2N1-3M0 breast cancer cells and main clinical and morphologic fea- tures, treatment provided and expression of multiple drug resistance gene MDR1.

5-YEAR SURVIVAL OF PATIENTS WITH STAGE II UTERINE CANCER DEPENDING ON MORPHOLOGIC FEATURES OF TUMOR
Abstract
Retrospective data of treatment results of 109 patients with rarely observed stage II uterine cancer, admitted to N.N. Blokhin Russian Cancer Research Center from 1980 to 2000 is analyzed. Correlation of overall 5-year survival rates of stage IIA and IIB uterine can- cer patients with a number of tumor morphologic features is studied. The influence of some non-elucidated morphologic features of stage IIA and IIB uterine cancer such as the degree of cellular anaplasia, the depth of tumor invasion into the uterine neck, lymho- vascular invasion into the myometrium and uterine neck, microscopic vessels density in the area of the most extensive invasion, the presence of necrotic areas in the tumor tissue on long-term treatment results are analyzed.

ADVISABILITY OF PERFORMING SIMULTANEOUS GYNECOLOGIC SURGICAL PROCEDURES FOR COLON CANCER
Abstract
The last decade is characterized by increased concern with problems of primary multiple neoplasm phenomena. Authors discuss vari- ous diagnostic methods used in the management of patients with multiple malignancies, in particular, in patients with colon cancer. Applicability of performing simultaneous gynecologic surgical procedures for colon cancer is evaluated.
